Why The Face?

The PD register is at 129. WTF? Or as the dad, who thinks he's cool, on my new favorite tv show Modern Family says, "Why The Face?"

129. 129? As Kolbi would say, Goshdarnit!

It's never going to happen. Is it? Is it? Grr.

I've been distracted lately. Ya'think?

I mailed a letter two days ago that got returned today. Turns out I addressed it to "Sara." That's all. Nothing else. I guess the last name and address, city, state and zip do matter.

An Australian chef I met in London and used to date in college found me on facebook. Turns out he's now a "celebrity" chef who owns restaurants in Tokyo, San Francisco, Sydney, Los Angeles, among other places, he has written 4 books and has been on numerous TV shows. He has knives, spices and pans with his name on them. He's friends with Paris. And Martha. Good for him.

One hundred and twenty freakin' nine.

So the plan to remove one bag of things a day from the house hasn't been going great yet. HOWEVER, I didn't get a bag out yesterday, but got TWO bags out today. So, I figure, I'm good.

I should get dinner started. I bought a steak. Which is interesting. My husband is a vegetarian.

I took a bag of cat litter out today. Would that count? I guess since the cats replenish it, probably not.

Goshdarnit INDEED!

German, my dear. GERMAN. Keep payin' your husband's cutie pie, young German girlfriend! LOL!

(Total joke, anyone who may not recall that her husband's German tutor is a lady in her 80's!)

Okay - so I shouldn't laugh - I feel for you TOTALLY, but this post made me crack up. I showed it to my husband - he laughed too...and then said, "Well, it's not like he's 129 out of 129 is it?" My husband almost never got called because....well, it's a long story, but I am writing this from our first post so I can say - It WILL happen and we will be so, so happy for you all when it does. I don't know you, but hugs anyway. Hang in there.

The A100 board is disputing that 129 number...they think it's more like 111. But regardless, I feel your pain...what's his ability in German? Could he go all out for 2 mos and pass? I'm planning to hire spanish conversation partners and push hard for about 2 mos and then see how it pans out.
I too have to laugh at your posts, even when they are frustrating/sad, you are so humorous. Good luck.

I'm not familiar with how it works to get into the FS, so can you explain what the 129 means? I'm guessing it's a ranking process, but not clear on what that means for his prospects. Thank you and I'll keep fingers crossed for you that he gets accepted soon. By the way, I speak/read German fluently, but I live in Seattle, WA or I would gladly give tutoring lesson! :)

The register is a list that places everybody according to their score on the Oral Assessment. Among those who scored the same, it is then ranked by date of getting on the register. DoS calls the top 18 (or so) people who are available every 6 weeks. But people are always being added. It's static. Language bumps the score up. A little or a lot. German = a little. But every bit helps.
